Permanent Magnet
A permanent magnet keeps its magnetism without any power supply. Unlike an electromagnet, which only works while current flows, a permanent magnet holds its pull all the time, which is why it appears in so many everyday objects.
This page is a general guide, not a specification sheet. It explains the idea in plain terms and the kinds of jobs permanent magnets do, so buyers can describe what they need in an inquiry.
Magnetic Sheets and Materials in Crafts, Signs and Workshops
Fridge magnets, cabinet catches, noticeboard magnets, craft projects and holding tools all rely on permanent magnets. In each case the magnet must keep holding without attention, for months or years, in a home, a classroom or a workshop.
Cutting, Printing and Holding Surfaces
Describe the job the magnet must do, the surface it will hold to, and the weight it must carry. Confirm the magnet style that suits your use, and include the quantity and delivery destination in your inquiry.
